Fast update
Baby: Still adorable. She's taking a big interest in things and seems to really enjoy facing forward and looking around. Hence the photo of her borrowing Sinjin's wrap - we're trying to see if she would like being carried this way (so we can go hiking!). To Chris's chagrin she's also starting to express mommy preference - I can sometimes quiet her by holding her when Chris can't get her to stop crying by any means. I guess that's what getting up at 4am every day buys me. Speaking of which, she's still waking up almost every night between 3 and 4 to eat. Again at 6, and again at 7. Which reminds me, I should really be in bed now...
Garden: Peas, radishes, and lettuce are starting to come up outside. Inside, tomatoes, herbs, marigolds, etc are all flourishing under the fluorescent lamp. I'm just waiting for a neighbor to report me to the police under suspicion of growing pot though.
Hobbies: I beat Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time tonight. In case you weren't aware, this is commonly believed to be one of the greatest video games of all time. And it came out 10 years ago. But it's still awesome. And I think I'm going to go tomorrow and buy the newest version and see if it's any good. On the knitting front, I gave up a sock I was working on and hating because a hobby that isn't fun is stupid. I'm knitting a different (better) sock now.

Baby talk
I know you are just blinded by the baby cuteness there. She's getting chattier, huh? Definitely taking after daddy. Ha.
We had a relaxing weekend - Shannon came and helped me plant the garden, both indoors (starting seeds) and out (spring veggies!). We've got lettuce, herbs, onions, broccoli, beets, and peas planted outside. The seed planting for me is the really magical step. Seeds look so pitiful when you put them in the ground. And then they make this big thing! I still have some lettuce and carrots growing in my container right now and it's especially fun to be able to see the end product and beginning at the same time.

Confessions
First, while in the hospital and holding the baby in the first couple of days, I actually got teary eyed because by waiting so long to have kids I have severely limited the number I can have.
(Before any of you point out all that the wonders of fertility treatments can do, you should know that in my mind I was thinking something like "how will I ever have 20 babies??" not "how will I ever have 3"... ah hormone swings. Regardless, it's a pretty big leap for someone who a couple of years ago wasn't even totally sure she wanted to have 1 kid.)
Second, I kind of like getting up in the middle of the night to feed the baby. She's so sweet and cuddly... and especially in the beginning it felt like an hour was too long to go without seeing her. I loved it when the nurses called me to tell me they were bringing her even if it was 4am. Now, I still like feeding her in the night. I don't like the part after I feed her though when she's not wanting to go back to sleep and I finally think she's asleep so I go back to bed and then I hear her crying more etc etc.
I think I have more confessions but I can't think of them right off. At the moment the baby is in the swing that I bought for her yesterday. Sound asleep. It's like a magic off switch. Baby in swing + pacifier in mouth = eyes closed. It's kind of like the stroller that way actually, except when she's in the swing I can be at home doing other stuff instead of out pushing a stroller. I'm glad my mom talked me into buying one. I'm glad too that I got it at a second hand store - it seems to have a few problems but it works well enough and I like that I'm reusing something. I got one of those baby gyms for her too and I've been trying to put her on her belly for her to practice lifting her neck. She seems like she's getting stronger but she still doesn't like doing that for very long.
In other news, we got a fabulous drip irrigation system hooked up and my seeds arrive, so I should be doing some gardening soon. Maybe this weekend?
