Bad choices
While waiting for our lunch yesterday Geneva was being kind of snotty to me. I stuck my tongue out at her and she turned to daddy saying "Daddy! Mommy is making bad choices!" We laughed and laughed. (I think the "bad choices" bit is a new thing they're doing at daycare. This was the first we'd ever heard her say it.)

Baking Kick
I've been on a real baking kick recently (replacing my knitting kick maybe? being pregnant is weird...). Here's what I've cooked since last Sunday:
- Pumpkin Bread
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Cauliflower soup (delicious recipe from my Aunt Teresa!)
- Rösti Casserole with Baked Eggs
- Pumpkin puree (from one of our jack o' lanterns - not exactly baking, but it'll be good to have for future recipes!)
- Chili (my mom's awesome Rotel based recipe)
- Autumn Mac and Cheese
Yum. I love eating whatever I want!

Pony Ride
I don't know how Chris got the horse to do this, but he pretty much guaranteed it won't be Geneva begging for a pony in our family... Watch all the way to the end. :-)

G Dancing
Geneva was doing some awesome dancing at the farmers' market on Saturday. I only managed to catch one tiny clip of it though - just this part at the beginning.

Bode at 20 weeks
We had our 20 week ultrasound with the new baby yesterday and got a couple of quick snapshots. He refused to sit in profile, so you'll have to enjoy photos of arms and feet only. Actually, he was very obstinate about getting into a lot of the positions the ultrasound tech needed, so it was a long appointment. Whenever the tech measured anything he showed up in the neighborhood of 21 weeks (instead of 20) so he's going to be on the larger side. Also he was super squirmy. I keep telling Chris that since Geneva is so well behaved, this one is going to be a runner. You know, those kids who you have to put on a leash because if you blink they're out playing in traffic. Also, we've decided we really like the name Bode (as in the skier), so unless we see another name we like better that'll probably be his name.

Photo Catch-up
We have a bit of a backlog of photos.
Here's a sort of boring set of photos of things I made this summer and a few other random things:
Here's photos from September (including an absolutely wonderful trip to Ocean Beach and Sutro Baths yesterday!):

Tink
We haven't seen or talked about this costume since last Halloween when she flat refused to wear it. This morning she woke up and asked to wear the fairy costume. She must have an internal October alarm!

Baby Geneva
Geneva really loves looking at photos of herself so yesterday we were showing her a slideshow of photos from just before and after she was born. We showed her "Geneva in Mommy's tummy" and "Mommy holding baby Geneva" and then we showed her this photo:
She immediately asked "Why was I in a cage?!" My mom and I were in hysterics.

Oopples and Ba-noo-noos
On the way to school today I was singing the song of the title... I'm not sure how the lyrics are supposed to go but I do:
"I want to eat eat eat eat eat eat apples and bananas.
I want to Ate ate ate ate ate ate aypples and ba-nay-nays"
Here Geneva interrupts: "Mommy, don't eat ba-nay-nays. We only put food in our mouths."
I'm giggling but continue: "I want to Eet eet eet eet eet eet eepples and ba-nee-nees."
Her: "Baneenees are not good for you. You shouldn't eat them."
Me: "I want to Ayet ayet ayet ayet ayet ayet ayepples and ba-nye-nyes"
Her: "You should only eat fruta. No ba-nye-nyes."
And so on for every variation. It was all I could do to keep singing.

New hairdo
So a couple of months ago I found a new hairdresser by just asking a coworker who did her hair, because I really liked it. I had to wait a long time but finally got an appointment and she spent like two hours on my hair and cut and dyed and did all kinds of things...

And nobody noticed. Like my mom and my mother-in-law noticed, but nobody else. So when I went in this month for a touch up and she asked how I liked it I told her "nobody noticed!" She said, well, they'll notice this time. Here's the new do.

I quite like it! Way more dramatic than I usually do though. I'm sure it'll calm down in the next couple of days as the dye settles in.

July Update
Wow. I really haven't posted since July 3? And no wordy updates in who knows how long?
My mom came to visit at the beginning of July and Chris's brother Matt and his wife Carrie came to stay with us around the same time while they looked for a place to live. So we have had a very full house for all of July, but that's really the way I prefer it. For Independence Day we all biked from Mountain View over to the fireworks at Shoreline and Geneva got to stay up until 11pm, which of course she loved.
Chris and I took advantage of all the babysitters around and went to a midnight showing of Harry Potter in IMAX 3D. It was so awesome!!! I love the way whenever something loud happened it shook my seat.
Other than that things have been pretty run of the mill... I was given a promotion at work to manager, and also our stock has been doing pretty well, so I've actually been able to make money off of some of my options. While my mom was visiting we knitted a shawl together - she did all the boring rows and I did all the hard rows. I've been continuing my running, by going 3 miles once every 3 days. My mom biked alongside me once when she was here and I guess I was inspired because I ran it at 11:15 mins per mile. I know that won't impress anyone who is actually a good runner, but it is a personal best.
I've made one of these cut chenille baby blankets and am most of the way through a second one. I'll show pics at some point. I've also been making some of the recipes I keep sharing from google reader, including the cupcake size cherry pies (yum!) and the cake batter pancakes (um... edible but way too sweet, even for this sweetatarian).
We've mostly unpacked all the boxes and are starting to think about modifications we want to make to the house. Everything from fixing screens, to remodeling the kitchen. We've already fixed one broken part of the sprinkler system, unstuck a lot of windows, pulled dish antennas off the roof, and so on. I think the next major thing will be to get people out to remove the asbestos from the pipes in the basement... we just don't want any of that stuff in the house no matter how well it insulates.
So... just small things going on around here. It's been a nice summer so far though!
